WELCOME TO THE ARC

INVITING. INSPIRING. INCLUSIVE.

The arc is a part of, the charity,  Caterham Barracks Community Trust (CBCT).

Caterham Barracks Community Trust is a charity focused on serving the community of Caterham.

Charity number : 1089853

It's main aims are to  by provide new facilities, within the Barracks site, to give the local people access to things they may have to otherwise travel far for.

CBCT especially focuses on those in need with the idea that the provided  facilities will give them the capacity for further development.  The arc is a prime example of this as there are a huge number of clubs, classes and events that cater to children and adults with special needs EVERY WEEK and continue all throughout the year.

Since reopening under CBCT's management in 2010, the arc has grown into a thriving community hub becoming home to a huge variety of clubs and classes run by local businesses, which include educational, art, dance, fitness and so much more.

These take place all throughout the week, see our timetable for more info.

The arc is passionate about its specialist provision for those with disabilities and additional needs. We are committed to ensuring that we are inclusive and providing meaningful experiences to the more vulnerable members of the community.

With extensive local partnerships and a wealth of experience, we embrace community in the truest sense of the word.  A flagship of this provision is Friday Club which is arts and drama for vulnerable adults, run in partnership with Prospero Theatre.

In addition to all the regular Arc activities available we also offer all our facilities for private hire, children's parties, celebrations as well as community events and fairs.

The Arc has the added advantage of a large free car park and wheelchair facilities, making our location accessible to everyone.

FRIDAY CLUB

10am - 3pm Weekly

‘Friday Club’ is Prospero's longest standing activity. It is an  arts, drama and music club for adults with disabilities and mental health challenges.

At the heart of Friday club is social inclusion and ownership.  All practitioners are trained in a wide range of wellbeing techniques designed to reduce stress through creative learning.  The work is people-centred and member-led.  Participants choose the topics and projects, workshop the ideas and devise the plays, whilst in art they design and built the set and contribute toward the artistic side of the marketing.

Each participant has individual as well as collective targets which span both social and artistic aspiration.
